BOCCHI — Catalog System & Visual World Building

Role
Art Direction, Editorial System Design, Information Architecture, Visual World Building

Project Description
A comprehensive catalog system was developed for BOCCHI USA, covering three main publications: kitchen, bathroom, and price list catalogs. The project extended beyond conventional catalog design, focusing on translating the brand’s material-driven identity—rooted in natural surfaces, water, stone, and ceramic textures—into a cohesive visual system.

Problem
The primary challenge was to ensure that all three catalogs functioned as parts of a unified brand ecosystem rather than disconnected outputs. Additionally, the high volume of product and technical information required restructuring to achieve clarity and readability. The content was not delivered in a ready-to-use format; it required analysis, filtering, and reorganization before being adapted into a structured catalog system.

Approach
The process began with an in-depth analysis of BOCCHI’s visual and material language—natural textures, surface qualities, ceramic and stone references, fluid transitions, and the relationship between products and living spaces. These insights formed the foundation of the visual direction.

In parallel, a systematic framework was established to ensure both visual consistency and informational clarity. Product groups, technical data, category transitions, color systems, and visual narratives were restructured. As a result, the kitchen, bathroom, and price list catalogs were designed not as separate entities, but as interconnected components of a single system.

Execution
– Developed a unified visual language across kitchen, bathroom, and price list catalogs
– Created a color and texture system inspired by natural materials, water, and surface qualities
– Analyzed and restructured fragmented product and technical data
– Redesigned catalog flow, category structure, and information hierarchy
– Integrated product storytelling, technical specifications, and lifestyle imagery within a single system
– Ensured visual, editorial, and structural consistency across all catalogs
– Managed a comprehensive, detail-oriented process over a four-month timeline with a collaborative team

Outcome
The BOCCHI USA catalogs evolved into a cohesive catalog system that embodies the brand’s material and spatial identity, rather than standalone design outputs. The project represents a holistic art direction process that integrates visual design, information architecture, and content structuring into a unified brand narrative.
