Just before leaving İzmir

Just before leaving İzmir, I opened my iPad and sketched this quickly. No perfectionism, no plan.Just that feeling of “let me leave whatever’s still inside me somewhere before I go.”

Sometimes it’s not the sketchbook that opens, but the iPad; sometimes it’s not a pen, but the Apple Pencil that takes my hand. But the tool never matters — it’s the last moment of contact I make with the city.

This drawing is exactly that:the soft melancholy of the return trip, the thin threshold between staying and leaving, the echo a city leaves inside you flickering on the screen for a second.

As I was leaving İzmir, I realized something:some places slip into your lines more easily. And this one became my last glance at İzmir..
