READING THE CITY THROUGH DRAWING: URBANSKETCHING
Urban sketching is more than a way of documenting places; it is a method of observing, understanding, and thinking through the city. Drawing on my background in urban planning and urban design, I use on-location drawing to explore human scale, movement, spatial relationships, atmosphere, and everyday life.
From streets and squares to metro journeys and fleeting encounters, each sketch records not only how a place looks, but how it is experienced. Through watercolour, ink, and mixed media, I turn observation into a visual journal of cities, people, and memory.
I also bring this approach into my teaching, treating drawing as a practice of spatial awareness, visual thinking, and personal expression.
