GISAGIS / Hereklia
Brand & Packaging System Rooted in Geographic Memory
Role
Art Direction, Brand Strategy, Logo Design, Packaging System Design, Illustration Direction
Project Description
GISAGIS / Hereklia is a brand identity and packaging system developed from the historical and geographical context of its origin.
Rather than designing a standalone logo or packaging, the project focused on building a holistic visual world that carries the texture, history, and spatial memory of the place the brand belongs to.
Problem
In the olive oil category, many brands rely on similar visual codes—premium positioning, natural product claims, and traditional storytelling.
For GISAGIS / Hereklia, it was not enough to appear “natural” or “high-quality.” The brand needed to establish a distinctive and authentic identity rooted in its own geography.
Approach
The process was grounded in the historical, architectural, and natural layers of the Latmos / Herakleia region.
This spatial memory was not used as a decorative reference, but as a conceptual foundation for the logo, visual language, illustration system, and packaging design.
The goal was not simply to represent the geography, but to translate its atmosphere and presence into the surface of the packaging.
Execution
– Positioned the brand name in relation to historical and geographical references
– Developed the logo system and visual language based on this context
– Translated spatial and architectural traces into an illustrative surface language
– Designed packaging within this unified visual system
– Treated the packaging surface as a narrative layer, not just an informational space
Outcome
GISAGIS / Hereklia evolved into a distinctive brand system that carries the historical, cultural, and spatial memory of its geography.
The project represents a conceptual art direction process where local references are translated into a contemporary visual language, creating a brand that goes beyond product and becomes an expression of place.
